New Hp Smartphone – The Veer
HP have just released their new Veer smart phone, one of the first products to see the light following HP’s purchase of Palm. The Veer is tiny and when referring to the Veer tiny is not hype, the phone is 54.5 mm x 84.0 mm x 15.1 mm and weighs just over 100 grams. For some users it is palm size, for others it would disappear into your palm quite comfortably. The size is all the more surprising given the Veer is a fully capable smart phone, running HP’s webOS operating system; it even has a slide-out physical keyboard in addition to its touchscreen interface. Research into technophobia.
Between 1992 and 1994 a study was conducted which surveyed first-year college students across a number of countries. The study was published in the popular journal ‘Computers in Human Behaviour’. 3,392 students responded to the survey and 29% of this sample revealed that they had technophobic fears. [Read more...]
Diary of a technophobe!
Let me let you into a little secret…I am a technophobe! I am afraid of using technological devices especially computers. I would go so far as to say that I avoid technology. Not in the sense that if I see a computer I cross the road but I will definitely not use them.
Symptoms of technophobia include a feeling of panic, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, nausea, dry mouth, trembling, anxiety and extreme avoidance measures taken. Those symptoms represent what happens to me when I think about using computers and any technological gadgets. Technology is so complex, so difficult to understand. What is wrong with wanting a simple and modest lifestyle? What are all the effects of all those ‘Wi-Fi’s’ whizzing around in the air?
